HEAD OF TEMPLE

ABBOT SUPERIOR

The Abbot Superior is the head of the monastery and in charge of all teaching and administration. As well as overseeing the day-to-day business, he holds responsibility for all secular and spiritual development of the acolytes. Prior to becoming an ordained monk, Master Li, a highly renowned martial arts fighter, spent several years studying and engaging in spiritual preparations, teaching the history and tenets of buddhism to other monks. Due to the special nature of the Dragon Temple, Master Li was also required to master a number of esoteric disciplines, known only to himself and his master. He was originally schooled in the famous Temple of the Snow Leopard, hidden deep in the mountainous forests of the northeast Yungui Plateau. An area that stretches primarily over Yunnan and Guizhou provinces.

HEAD OF DISCPLINE

FIGHTING

To earn the title Head of Fighting, (aka Grand Master), the applicant must have practiced gong fu (martial arts) for a minimum of twelve years under a Senior Master, as well as have actively worked as a teacher for eleven years. He must go through rigorous testing and be assessed by a panel of three other Grand Masters. Master Gang was born in the northern province of Ningxia, where he trained and served at various temples before making his way south. Other than his gong fu credentials little is known about him. He arrived at The Dragon Temple in the year of the horse, 1930, where he took up position as a master. Through focus and hard work he advanced to Head of Fighting after a short span of only ten moons, in the year of the goat 1931. 

SCRIPTURE

At the dragon temple, scripture does not, as it commonly does, mean sacred text. Rather the subject covers Chinese characters, reading, writing and calligraphy-mainly. Head of Scripture, Master Peng, likes to weave in a good dose of common knowledge, legends and mythology. he was trained by his grandfather, Master Peng Yun Yi, who was a headmaster in the local school less than two miles from the Dragon Temple.

ARCHIVIST

To become Head Archivist of the Dragon Temple requires vast knowledge and experience. It is the archivist who collects, assesses, maintains, and preserves all sorts of information which usually comes in various shapes and forms. Archive Number One is filled to the brim with books, scripts, scrolls, records, letters, diaries and more. After successfully finishing his studies in the natural sciences at the famous University of The Western Forest, Master Chen began his career at the city library of Fengchun. Apart from mastering the natural sciences he is well versed in  appraising, cataloguing, provenance, original order and archival theory.

MASTER

FIGHTING

A master at the Dragon Temple has been trained for a minimum of seven years at either of the eight affiliated fighting monasteries approved by Abbot Superior Li. He must then have at least six years of teaching experience, although this requirement varies depending on the level of the classes taught.

POTIONS

To qualify as a Master of Potions in the Dragon Temple you must have been trained in the far eastern region of Qinghai. Many herbs required to make some of the more advanced potions should preferably be picked in this mineral rich soil. furthermore, for maximum effect certain herbs must must be treated and prepared within thirty minutes of picking. Only this area holds the desirable aninja palatar—a plant most favoured by Potion Master Deng.

 MEDITATION

Meditation is a basic practice in any monastery in China, necessary to still the mind and sharpen the focus . Master Wang came highly recommended from his previous workplace, temple of the Praying Mantis and has been successfully guiding students for over twenty-six years. Drawing on his long and rich background, Master Wang helps the acolytes of Long Si to awaken their awareness and be better equipped to navigate the physically and mentally demanding world of gruelling gong fu.
